Obtaining An Evaluation
Decide what you would like to sell and take photos with a digital camera or cellphone. Email those photos to inquiry@mortonkuehnert.com together with any history or information about the item. The photos will be routed to the appropriate specialist. After reviewing the photos the specialist will determine if a visit to your home is necessary. If you cannot take photos please call our office and we will assist you in making other arrangements. If you prefer to bring your items to Morton Kuehnert please make an appointment so that we can give you the attention you deserve. Please call 713-827-7835 for an appointment. After reviewing your photos or items, a Morton Kuehnert specialist will give you verbal auction estimates
and review the commission and fee structure.
We are not auctioning appliances, items in poor condition or broken, filing cabinets, household items, soiled or damaged rugs, etc.
Commission & Other Fees
Commission and Fees are deducted from auction proceeds.
Commission is based upon the hammer price.
Commission:
20% $500 - 999
15% $1,000 - 4,999
12% $5,000 - 9,999
10% $10,000 - up
Photography:
$25 per lot for Fine Art & Antiques Auction
$15 per lot for Antiques & Interiors
Insurance:
1.5% is charged on the reserve or low estimate.
Miscellaneous:
If necessary, charges for repairs or cleaning may be charged.
Buy-In Fee:
If a lot is offered with a reserve and that reserve is not reached a buy-in fee of 10% will be charged.
Reserve Policy
We do offer the option of placing a reserve on items with a low estimate of $1500, and a minimum reserve of $1000.
Consignment Contract
Each item is listed on the contract with an estimate This contract must be signed before we can proceed with the auction process of photography and cataloging. After the photos are taken they are processed and published on the Morton Kuehnert website and other websites we use.
Settlement
Checks are mailed 30 days after the auction. After the auction you will receive a check less our commissions and fees per the contract. If your item has not sold you will receive a call giving you two options:
1) Lower the estimates 30% and reoffer the items in a future sale.
2) You may pick up your items.

What can be sold at auction?
Anything of value can be sold at auction. This includes a wide range of merchandise including; home and garden furnishings, decorative accessories, art, china, crystal, bronzes, lamps, silver, rugs, musical instruments, clocks, garden statuary and fountains, jewelry, vintage clothing, some appliances, just to name a few.
What about the items that are not appropriate for sale at auction?
Morton Kuehnert can assist you with the donation of property not suitable for auction.
